BANDUNG, SEATIZENS – Juliana, a Brazilian woman, fell into a ravine on Mount Rinjani. The Head of Basarnas, Air Marshal Mohammad Syafii, confirmed her death.
Syafii explained that rescuer Hafid Hasadi reached the victim around 6:00 PM WITA. After checking her condition, the rescuer found no signs of life.
“Rescuer Hafid reached the victim at 6:00 PM WITA at a depth of about 600 meters from the initial fall point in Cemara Nunggal,” Syafii said. He added that the rescue team initially estimated the victim was at 400 meters, but they later found her deeper.
Rescue Operations

At 6:31 PM WITA, three rescuers—Samsul Fadli from Lombok Timur SAR, and Agam and Tio from Rinjani Squad—were sent to approach the victim. They performed a wrapping rescue to secure her.
A team of seven SAR personnel set up an evacuation system at the last known location. They established a flying camp at three points: the anchor point, 400 meters deep, and the Datum Point at 600 meters, where four rescuers and the victim stayed.

Challenging Weather Conditions
By 7:00 PM WITA, thick fog limited visibility, making further evacuation impossible. The weather worsened, halting rescue efforts.
Rescue teams continue to work and wait for better weather. They aim to complete the evacuation and recover the victim’s body from the site.
