BANGKOK, SEATIZENS –Moo Deng, the adorable pygmy hippo and rising social media star, recently celebrated her third month with a notable weight gain of 10 kilograms, bringing her to a healthy 32.7 kilograms.

According to Bangkok post , This increase marks a significant milestone, as she now weighs 10.7 kilograms more than she did at two months old. The Khao Kheow Open Zoo, where Moo Deng resides, humorously posed a question on its Facebook page: “Is she okay to be on a menu?” This lighthearted comment reflects the affection and attention the little hippo has garnered since her birth on July 10.

The Importance of Conservation

As Moo Deng captivates visitors at the zoo in Sri Racha district, Chon Buri, her story sheds light on the plight of pygmy hippos, a critically endangered species with fewer than 2,500 individuals remaining in the wild. These hippos face significant threats from habitat destruction due to logging, mining, and farming. By raising awareness through Moo Deng’s journey, the zoo emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts aimed at protecting these unique animals and their habitats.
