Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka Sworn In as President and Vice President of Indonesia

BANDUNG, SEATIZENS – On Sunday, October 20, 2024, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka took their oaths as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. They officially assume the country’s top leadership positions for the 2024-2029 term.

The oath-taking ceremony occurred during the MPR RI Plenary Session held at the Nusantara building in Senayan, Central Jakarta. The session started at 10:00 AM WIB and was chaired by Ahmad Muzani, the Chairman of the MPR.

Prabowo recited his oath first, followed by Gibran. The event drew the attendance of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), along with the 13th Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin. Standing from his seat, Prabowo recited the oath, and Jokowi, sitting next to him, stood to witness this historic moment. Attending members of the MPR also rose to honor the occasion.

Pelantikan Prabowo-Gibran

After the oath-taking, the event proceeded with the signing of the inauguration minutes by the President, Vice President, and MPR leaders. The MPR leadership handed over the inauguration minutes to Prabowo and Gibran.

Prabowo and Gibran replace Jokowi and Ma’ruf Amin, who served during the 2019-2024 period. Prabowo is now the 8th President of Indonesia, while Gibran serves as the 14th Vice President.

Following the inauguration, Prabowo delivered his inaugural speech as the 8th President of Indonesia.

As part of the inauguration celebrations, Prabowo and Gibran will conduct a procession from the Parliament Building to the State Palace in Central Jakarta. During their journey, they will greet citizens along the route to the Palace.
