Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Indonesia's Vice President

BANDUNG, SEATIZENS – On Sunday, October 20, attendees at the MPR Plenary Session offered varied reactions to Indonesia’s Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This occurred just before the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony for Gibran, who is the running mate of President Prabowo Subianto.

As the Chairman of the MPR, Ahmad Muzani, opened the session, he welcomed the invited guests. He stated, “We respectfully acknowledge the elected Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, Mr. Gibran Rakabuming.” This announcement prompted cheers from some attendees, while others responded with applause.

In contrast, President Prabowo received an enthusiastic welcome. The audience applauded loudly, and many attendees gave him a standing ovation, demonstrating their support.

Earlier, Kaesang Pangarep, Gibran’s younger brother, also received a warm reception. He attended the inauguration with his siblings, Kahiyang Ayu and her husband, Bobby Nasution. Kaesang smiled and laughed at the attention from the audience.

During this momentous occasion, Prabowo and Gibran officially took their oaths as President and Vice President. Prabowo now holds the title of the eighth President of Indonesia, while Gibran serves as the 14th Vice President.
