BANGKOK, SEATIZENS – Authorities in Bangkok surrounded a doctor’s home in the Intamara area where a former boxer, wanted for theft, had taken refuge after firing at pursuing police officers.
A tense standoff ensued as police negotiators tried to persuade the stubborn former boxer to surrender. Despite hours of intense negotiations and pleas for reason, the suspect remained defiant, refusing to comply with the authorities’ demands. In a desperate act of defiance, he fired at the surrounding officers, tragically injuring one. The brazenness of his actions shocked the community, as witnesses watched in horror as the situation escalated. After a prolonged period of resistance, the suspect managed to escape and disappear into the night, leaving behind a trail of chaos and unanswered questions.


The efforts of police negotiators
According to Thairath News Authorities found the suspect’s wife at an abandoned house, threatening suicide. Despite efforts to calm her down and prevent tragedy, she escaped twice: once from the house and again while being transported to the police station. The incident has sparked widespread concern and has highlighted the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in Thailand. It has also raised questions about the mental health of the suspect and his wife.
