Thailand embraces AI to lead global economy.

BANGKOK SEATIZENS – Thailand rapidly embraces AI technology across public and private sectors, aligning with global advancements. Experts at the AI Thailand Forum 2024 emphasized the need for an AI-ready workforce to lead the global economy by 2030. Organized by the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, NSTDA, SCB X, and KBTG, the seminar highlighted AI’s role in the anticipated global economic transformation by 2030.

ACCORDINGTO THAIGER ,NSTDA President Sukit Limpijumnong highlighted Thailand’s commitment to AI with a national strategy for 2022-2027. Ethical guidelines regulate AI in business. Infrastructure development includes a national AI service platform and the supercomputer LANTA. Over 100,000 workers enhanced their AI skills last year. The Education Ministry integrates AI in teaching and supports startups, creating over 50 AI prototypes. AI research aids strategic planning, benefiting over 600,000 people in 17 provinces.

Thailand Advances AI for Economic Growth

Thailand establishes a medical AI consortium, consolidating over 1.6 million medical images for research and public health advancements. Despite dropping to 37th in the AI Government Readiness Index for 2023, Thailand maintains a strong position with a public sector score of 77.21 and an infrastructure rating of 70.55. The technology score has improved to 41.33, but further development is needed.

Chai Wutiwiwatchai of NECTEC highlighted the national AI service platform’s 53 million usages and the development of OpenThaiGPT. Major agencies, including the House of Representatives and the Revenue Department, are piloting AI applications like Pathumma LLM. Rungroj Poonpol of KTBG emphasized focusing on AI in finance, tourism, agriculture, and healthcare for sustainable growth. By 2030, AI is expected to contribute $15.7 trillion to global GDP.
