A Buddhist monastery is reportedly using human bodies for meditation.

BANGKOK SEATIZENS – Authorities in Phichit province are investigating the discovery of 41 cadavers used in meditation practices at Pa Nakhon Chaibovorn monastery in Pho Thale district. The police, led by Pol Maj Gen Tadej Klomkliang, are working to determine if the bodies were legally obtained. Documentation related to the storage of the cadavers is being examined, and an investigation is underway to determine whether the deceased individuals died from natural causes, despite the monastery’s claims that the bodies were donated by faithful members.

According to Bangkok , The National Office of Buddhism has also become involved in the investigation, with an assessment being conducted to determine if the monastery’s practices align with Buddhist principles. The use of cadavers in meditation is described as a new and unusual approach, raising concerns about the potential conflict with traditional Buddhist rituals and teachings. The local office of Buddhism, under director Kom Pattarakulprasert, is also scrutinizing the monastery’s activities.

Kom Pattarakulprasert, who visited the monastery to observe the meditation practices, expressed surprise after the discovery of the 41 bodies, as the monastery’s abbot, Phra Ajarn Saifon Phandito, had initially denied their presence. Following this revelation, it was stated by Mr. Kom that consultations would be held with the local religious authorities to determine whether such practices are considered appropriate within the Buddhist community.
