BANGKOK SEATIZENS – Immigration officers raided 30 locations, detaining nearly 300 foreign nationals for various immigration violations and issuing fines totaling 250,000 baht. They promptly handed over offenders for legal proceedings. Police General Kittirat Phanpet directed the action, emphasizing a crackdown on illegal activities. Police Major General Natthakorn Prappayont instructed a sweep of construction worker accommodations across 25 provinces, targeting suspected immigration law violators.
ACCORDING TO THAIGER – Over 250 immigration officers, supported by 190 local police and other personnel, coordinated raids on 30 locations. They enforced immigration laws in Samut Prakan, discovering over 2,000 foreign nationals. Among these, 287 individuals, including 161 Myanmar nationals, 75 Cambodians, two Laotians, and 49 Thais, faced charges under the Immigration Act.
Immigration Officers Crack Down on Violations and Illegal Entries
Immigration officers identified 193 cases of illegal entry into the kingdom, found 17 individuals staying beyond their permitted period, and discovered seven working without proper authorization, KhaoSod reported.
Moreover, they noted that 67 individuals failed to report their residence to relevant officials as required by law. Additionally, other minor violations accounted for five more cases, resulting in fines exceeding 250,000 baht (US$7,270). Therefore, all detainees are now with investigators for further legal proceedings.
In related news, immigration police arrested three Vietnamese men this morning for illegally entering Thailand through a border checkpoint in Nong Khai despite being blocklisted. Officers from the Nong Khai Provincial Immigration Office discovered a Facebook post by 34-year-old Phan Dinh Sy, who advertised a transport service for Vietnamese nationals wishing to enter Thailand illegally. Consequently, they were apprehended and handed over to the authorities
